Cookie Swap Recipe by Mary-Pat Forsyth
So I bet you are wondering, how did I get my own cookie? MP and I first made these together in high school for a National Honor Society auction. I share the recipe with her and over the years she forgot the original name, Cocoa Kiss Cookies, and renamed them “Heather Cookies.” Personally, I love the name! (and the cookies too!)
Heather Cookies
Yield: 24 cookies
1 cup butter
2/3 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 2/3 cups flour
1/4 Hershey’s cocoa
1 cup finely chopped walnuts
1 bag Hershey’s kisses
Powdered Sugar
1. Beat sugar, butter, and vanilla until creamy.
2. In separate bowl, stir together flour and cocoa; blend into butter mixture.
3. Before opening walnut bag, crush with wooden spatula to give an extra fine chop. Add walnuts and beat on low-speed until well blended.
4. Refrigerate dough about one hour or until firm.
5. Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees.
6. Mold dough around a kiss and shape into balls.
7. Place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
8. Bake 10-12 minutes at 375 degrees.
9. Cool for 15 minutes and then roll in powdered sugar.
